Richard has always known that Cinematography was his calling and he has had a passion for stills photography from the age of eleven. In addition, his father is a cinematographer/camera & lens engineer and his siblings work as a Visual Effects DP and Director/Writer respectively, thus helping to make it a path that was very clear to him. Richard chose to initially ground his future in a four-year Fine Art degree at Central St. Martins in London. A school that he knew would provide both a unique insight and a crucial foundation to later inform his work as a Director of Photography. Upon graduation, as a UK citizen with US residency, Richard worked in the camera department on US shows C.S.I and One Tree Hill and also several independent features. He then undertook a two-year Cinematography masters at the UK National Film and Television School (NFTS) under the tuition of Brian Tufano and Stuart Harris and guest tutors such as Billy Williams and Oliver Stapleton. Since graduating the NFTS he has continued to work professionally on films, documentaries, commercials and promos.
This year Richard had the pleasure of discussing his new feature 'Edge of the Blade' with British Cinematographer Magazine. He was also featured in the 'New Wave' section of the Magazine back in 2014.
